Technical Data Sheet RD-5 Catalyst for powder coatings with wrinkle finishes Description RD5 is an amine-blocked sulfonic acid salt based catalyst, which is, in particular, absorbed on silica converting into free-flowing powder to blend or handle easily. RD5 is recommended to use in exterior durable glycouril crosslinked powder coating to achieve the attractive wrinkle finishes. Application & Feature RD5 is recommended as a catalyst used in exterior durable glycouril- hydroxyl polyester powder coating to provide attractive wrinkle finishes. Specific wrinkle finishes are highly dependent on the dosage of RD5, polyester resin used and pigmentation selection. A pre-trial in line should be conducted to best determine the desired dosage to obtain the desired wrinkle finishes. Process & Use level RD5 is added to the binder/pigment blend before extrusion. Approx. 0.6 to 1.0 phr by weight. Shelf life Based on our experience the shelf life of this product is at least within one year from date of manufacture. For older than this period, it is recommended to check the acid value. Storage & Notice Store in temperature between 2 and 35 C or cool dry place to avoid wetting-absorption. Handling & Precaution Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Avoid breathing dust. Wash after handling.
